CAIRO – 15 August 2017: UK based Publisher and Managing Director, Andrew Hansen, will be holding a talk about the art of book publishing in the UAE on Saturday, August 19. The talk, which is titled, 'My Life on the Coffee Table,' will be given in Alserkal Avenue's Nadi Al Quoz, located in Sheikh Sayed. His talk will represent Pretzel Publishing, one of the world's leading publishers for art-books, illustrations, photography and imprints, producing an impressive output of 150 books each year from their offices in New York and London.

The United Arab Emirates presents for Hansen a place rich with opportunity to spread literary love to eager book lovers from the Middle East. Talking to the National, he explains his viewpoint that “in my experience of the Emirates, with all of the literary festivals, the museum exhibitions and the book fairs, people love books and are very keen to get their hands on them.”

He adds that while people in Paris have prestigious bookstores such as Shakespeare and Company, the market for books in the UAE is still relatively new, allowing for further expansion. Hansen’s talk will give people insight on his trade tricks and how to find success in the rapidly changing book market, all while having fun.

According to Al Serkal’s Avenue’s website, 'My Life on the Coffee' table will be part of the 'Literaturhaus at Nadi' event that has been running from July 1, 2017 until September 30 in Alserkal Avenue. The event seeks to bring back the feel of 19th century salons where questions were debated with literary, artistic and other cultural initiatives, allowing audiences to expand their knowledge further.
