CAIRO– 7 August 2017: El-Mastaba center for Egyptian Folk Music is organizing a performance for Mazamir El-Nile band on August 31, featuring a unique collection of folk music.

Mazamir El-Nile is gathering the most talented musicians and singers from Upper Egypt who usually sings in villages and towns of Upper Egypt.

This performance is one of El-Mastaba’s activities to re-introduce the Egyptian identity and show the diversity of its culture, the band is one of some other bands that El-Mastaba sponsored to promote Egyptian folk Music.

The songs of the band vary between in topics to include love and lifestyle of people in Upper Egypt, marriage, and the Nile. They called themselves Mazamir El-Nile to resonate their identity to the Nile river.

The Band made performances in England, Italy, Spain, Netherland, Russia, Turkey, and France which was one of their most important cultural platforms.

The band comprises of Abd-elhady family, their grandfather Abd-elhay established the first band for Mizmar “Oriental type of flute” in 1942 then his son Mohamed established Mazamir El-Nile in 2002 with 8 artists.
