CAIRO – 3 August 2017: Egyptian band Glass Onion will be performing a live tribute to the prominent The Beatles through a joint performance with classical string ensemble Awtar Quartet at the Cairo Opera House on Tuesday.

Established in 2010, Glass Onion was formed as a tribute band to the renowned Beatles who began as dedicated fans who perform respectful solo artists and musicians, songs for the Beatles that were produced from 1962 to 1970, according to their official Facebook page.

The band has long played in several venues across the country including Bibliotheca Alexandria Arts Center (BA), Cairo Opera House, and independent music stream concerts such as London Sound.

The classical part of the performance will be carried out by classic string ensemble Awtar Quartet, well-known for adapting different trends in classical music including Arabic classics, Tango, Jazz, Film, Waltz, and Pop. Awtar Quartet was established in 2012. The professional music ensemble consists of musicians Yasser Ghoneim on first violin, Khaled Saleh on second violin, Essam Abdel Hamid on viola, and Mohamed Abdel Fattah on cello.

Awtar Quartet will also have another

joint performance

with Sufi band Al-Hadraa, where they will display a unique blend of oriental Sufi and classical melodies on Wednesday.
