Raghda El Maghraby, General Coordinator of the Egyptian Fan Zone, revealed behind-the-scenes details of the project that welcomed thousands of fans to watch Egypt’s matches in the FIFA World Cup, saying the goal was to deliver a world-class experience that reflects modern Egypt and the New Capital through international-standard organization and facilities.
Speaking on DMC’s Sahebat El Saada with acclaimed TV host Essad Younis, El Maghraby said the team studied leading Fan Zone models from around the world and identified the key elements fans look for to create a comprehensive experience suitable for all age groups.
She explained that while the giant viewing screen was the centerpiece of the event, the experience extended far beyond football, featuring entertainment activities, a wide range of services, and carefully planned organization to provide a fun and safe environment for visitors.
El Maghraby added that entry to the Egyptian Fan Zone was managed through personalized visitor passes. She noted that the photos and videos shared from the event showcased Egypt in a modern and positive light, stressing that the project’s success was made possible by the collaborative efforts of all teams at the United Media Services (UMS), who worked together with a strong team spirit.
Meanwhile, Hamed Arafa, Founder and Chairman of Highlights, revealed that the giant screen measured approximately 2,000 square meters and stood 30 meters high, roughly the height of a 10-story building. He explained that constructing it required assembling a massive steel structure in stages before it was lifted into place.
Arafa added that attendance exceeded all expectations, with the Egyptian Fan Zone hosting one of the country’s largest public gatherings to watch the World Cup matches. He expressed pride in the remarkable turnout and the unwavering support Egyptian fans showed for the national team.
