Following the remarkable success of its first season, Egypt’s Ministry of Awqaf has announced the opening of applications for the second season of the Dawlet El Telawa (State of Receitation) competition, organized in collaboration with the United Media Services as part of efforts to preserve Egypt’s rich heritage in Quranic recitation.
The competition aims to discover and support exceptional Quran recitation talents from across Egypt, introducing a new generation of reciters distinguished by outstanding vocal performance, mastery of tajweed rules, and excellence in traditional recitation styles, further reinforcing Egypt’s reputation as the “State of Recitation.”
The competition includes two categories: Tajweed and Tarteel. The first-place winner in each category will receive a prize of EGP 1 million.
Applicants must demonstrate full mastery of tajweed rules and may only participate in one category. The competition is not open to officially accredited Quran reciters or chanters on Egyptian Radio, accredited reciters at the Ministry of Awqaf, or contestants who previously reached the finals of the first season.
The competition is open to participants of all ages, including imams and talented reciters from all governorates across Egypt.
Applications will remain open until June 30, 2026.
