The East Nile Monorail witnessed an unprecedented surge in ridership as nearly 20,000 passengers traveled from the Investors Station in New Cairo to the R2 Station at the Green River to attend the FIFA World Cup 2026 opening celebrations at the Egyptian Fan Zone (EFZ) in the New Capital.

 
The remarkable turnout reflected growing public confidence in Egypt’s modern transportation network, with the monorail providing a fast, safe, and efficient connection to one of the country’s largest sporting and entertainment events.
 
The smooth operation of the East Nile Monorail highlighted the success of Egypt’s advanced mass transit system in facilitating access to major national events and connecting communities to large-scale celebrations with ease and efficiency.
