Veteran Egyptian Actor Abdel Aziz Makhyoun Passes Away At 80

The late veteran Abdel Aziz Makhyoun began his artistic career in the late 1960s after graduating from the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts. Born in Abu Hummus, Makhyoun was an accomplished actor and theater director. He joined the Television Theater Company, founded the Farmers’ Theater, and later received a government scholarship to study theater in France. His breakthrough came in 1973 when he starred alongside legendary actress Faten Hamama in the acclaimed television drama Ognyet El Mout (Song of Death), based on a text by Tawfiq Al-Hakim, with poetry and dialogue by Abdel Rahman Al-Abnoudi and directed by Saeed Marzouk.
 
Over the course of his career, he appeared in several notable films, including El Kenz (The Treasure), Dokan Shehata (Shehata’s Shop), Zay El Naharda (Like Today), El Nems, Dam El Ghazal (Gazelle Blood), El Horoub (The Escape), and Bi’r El Khiyana (The Well of Betrayal) among others.
 
His television credits included Gawdar, Khotoot Hamra (Red Lines), El Gamaa (The Muslim Brotherhood), and Umm Kulthum among others.
