DJ Snake has released a new music video for Cairo Express, a project heavily influenced by the atmosphere of Cairo’s streets and the distinctive sound of Egypt’s mahraganat scene. The genre, which originated in the city’s working-class districts, fuses electronic beats with hip-hop elements, folk rhythms, and heavily processed vocal styles, forming the sonic backdrop that inspired the track’s visual identity.

Premiering on Thursday, 4 June, the video quickly gained strong traction online, surpassing 400,000 views on YouTube within its first 24 hours, reflecting the high level of global interest surrounding the release.

Visually, the clip presents a stylized and intensified version of Cairo, where real-life textures blend with heightened, almost surreal storytelling. DJ Snake moves through dense urban corridors filled with movement and noise, passing tightly packed streets, local performers, and spontaneous gatherings, all of which contribute to a constantly shifting sense of energy and momentum.

Rather than centering on well-known monuments or postcard imagery, the video focuses on everyday urban life. It captures children navigating narrow alleys on bicycles, street celebrations unfolding in open spaces, and residents organically becoming part of the visual narrative. The result is a dynamic portrayal of Cairo that emphasizes rhythm, unpredictability, and lived experience, mirroring the raw, street-born spirit that shaped the track itself.
