The Strokes Turn Their Live Shows Into Visual Protest on the Destruction of Universities in Gaza and Iran

The Strokes band has used their stage visuals to spotlight the destruction of universities in Gaza and damage to academic institutions in Iran, turning their concerts into a powerful commentary on the impact of conflict on education and student life.
 

The visuals align with the damage in Gaza’s higher education system, where over 95 % of campuses have been damaged or destroyed since October 2023, a situation some reports have referred to as “scholasticide.”
 

The presentation also highlights strikes on academic sites in Iran, including Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran.
