Dr. Rev. Andrea Zaki, President of the Evangelical Community in Egypt, participated in the Palm Sunday celebration at the Evangelical Church in Hadayek El-Qobba.
The event was attended by Dr. Rev. Kamal Youssef, the church’s pastor, along with Hala Touma, Director of New Ramses School and wife of the Evangelical Community President, and a large congregation of church members.
Also taking part in the program were Rev. Samir Shokry, youth servant at the church and worship leader Samuel Latif, in addition to the church’s praise team.
During his sermon, Dr. Rev. Andrea Zaki reflected on the significance of Christ’s triumphant entry into Jerusalem, emphasizing that this event was not merely a moment of celebration, but carried a profound message about the nature of the Kingdom of God. He said:
“On one of the greatest days in history, the streets of Jerusalem were filled with cheers, palm branches were raised, and the crowds cried out: ‘Hosanna.’ Everyone thought it was a moment of crowning a king, but in reality, it was the beginning of the road to the cross.”
He added: “Jesus Christ entered Jerusalem not to be crowned as a king, but to give His life and to break the arrogance of power. He redefined the meaning of kingship, not through force or control as the world does, but by coming in humility, declaring that the true king is the one who gives himself in love and redemption.”
He concluded by affirming that the cross is Christ’s true coronation, saying: “The world sees coronation on a throne, but the Kingdom of God reveals it on the cross. The Christ who entered Jerusalem to be crucified is the same who rose to grant us new life.”
He further stressed that accepting Christ as King goes beyond believing in Him as Savior, extending to surrendering one’s entire life to Him, stating: “Accepting Him as King means trusting His path, surrendering our will to Him, and allowing Him to reshape our lives.”
