Palm Sunday Celebrations Fill Church of the Virgin Mary in Haret Zuweila with Spiritual Joy

 

 

A vibrant spiritual atmosphere marked Palm Sunday at the historic Church of the Virgin Mary in Haret Zuweila, as worshippers gathered carrying palm fronds, olive branches, and flowers.

 

 

 

The celebrations began with the traditional Palm procession, where priests and deacons paraded intricately woven palms shaped into crosses and wheat, commemorating the entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem.

 

The Divine Liturgy followed, featuring readings from the four Gospels. Known as Palm Sunday or “Hosanna Sunday,” the feast is one of the major celebrations in the Coptic Orthodox Church, symbolizing victory, peace, and salvation.

 

 

It also marks the beginning of Holy Week, leading up to the celebration of Easter, in a deeply reflective and sacred atmosphere.
