During the Best International Film presentation, Javier Bardem declared “No to war and free Palestine,” igniting cheers and applause from the audience.
Hannah Einbinder said she felt “immense pride” when Javier Bardem shouted “Free Palestine” during the Academy Awards, adding that she was not surprised that no one else in the room spoke up.
Speaking in a recent interview, Einbinder praised Bardem for using the moment to voice his stance and noted that he has long been known for expressing his political views publicly.
“It was absolute pride and gratitude,” she said. “He has always been outspoken, and I truly value hearing his voice in a room like that where, frankly, no one else said anything.”
