The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population has issued a strong warning about the dangers of child marriage, highlighting the severe impact it has on girls who marry before the age of 18.

According to the ministry, these girls pay a high price for their health and safety. Their bodies are not fully developed, their minds are still in sensitive stages of growth, and they lack the capacity to handle the significant pressures that marriage imposes.

Child marriage robs girls of some of life’s most precious experiences: their childhood, dreams, mental well-being, education, and personal development. “It’s a true loss of a period of childhood that will never come back,” the ministry stated.

The campaign urges families to protect their daughters and ensure they enjoy the full span of their childhood. “Don’t steal her innocence. Her childhood is her right,” the ministry emphasized, launching the awareness initiative under the hashtag #HerChildhoodIsHerRight.

The ministry also extended gratitude to the team behind the Egyptian drama series Ein Sehreya and United Media Services for their efforts in highlighting social issues like child marriage.

Through conscious storytelling, the series helps audiences understand the dangers of early marriage and contributes to safeguarding future generations from its harmful consequences.
