In the heart of Gaza, Palestine, where daily life is intertwined with endless challenges, the series Sohab El Ard has emerged as more than just a drama. It is a living testimony that pulses with Palestinian reality in all its honesty and truthful detail.
Young Palestinian activist Eman Lulu praised Sohab El Ard (Land Owners) in a video she shared on Instagram. She explained that she didn’t just watch it, she found herself living the events as if she were part of them, proving that art can sometimes be a stronger mirror than any report or news story.
Eman said emotionally, “You see my eyes, I want to talk to you and I feel like I’m about to cry. It’s so real I couldn’t believe it. Every few minutes, my family and I would say, ‘Oh God, this happened to us, this really happened to us.’ How are they portraying it so perfectly? Everything is incredibly real.”
She added, “I’m truly shocked that a series like this was released without any buzz around it, and no one in Gaza talked about it. You absolutely must watch it. I woke up in the morning and spent three straight hours watching the first three episodes. I felt like I was part of the events, crying as if we were the heroes of the story, because it reflects the truth and resembles our lives so closely.”
Sohab El Ard addresses the humanitarian situation of Gaza’s residents after the October 7 war. The series stars Eyad Nassar as a Palestinian man desperately trying to save his nephew amid the horrors of bombardment, while Menna Shalaby portrays an Egyptian doctor who arrives with a rescue convoy. In the midst of destruction, bonds of love, hope, and conscience are formed, and a human love story emerges from the tragedy of war.
The series stars Eyad Nassar, Menna Shalaby, Kamel El Basha, Adam Bakri, Essam El Saqqa, Tara Abboud, Sara Youssef, Eyad Hourani, Diana Rahma, rising actor Yazan Eid, child actor Samir Mohamed, and several other artists and guest stars. It is written by Ammar Sabry, with screenplay development and dialogue by Mohamed Hisham Abia, directed by Peter Mimi, and produced by United Studio.
