WATCH IT Unveils Its First International True-Story Original Series Made in Egypt

WATCH IT has announced an upcoming world-class series based on a true story, marking a major milestone for the platform and for the regional entertainment industry.

As the first streaming platform in the MENA region to produce an international series under the Watch IT Originals banner, the project reflects WATCH IT’s commitment to delivering high-quality, globally competitive content.

 

Produced in collaboration with prominent regional and international partners, including AR Content, Big Dreams Entertainment, and Aroma Studios (Tamer Mortada), the series highlights WATCH IT’s strategic vision of elevating regional storytelling through world-class production standards.
 

The project brings together Hollywood-level expertise with regional talent, positioning it as a landmark achievement for the MENA streaming landscape.

The series was filmed entirely in Egypt, utilizing monumental sets, authentic environments, and advanced visual effects. This large-scale production underscores Egypt’s world-class production capabilities and reinforces its role as a key hub for international filmmaking.
 

The creative process was led by an award-winning team internationally recognized for excellence in design, visual effects, and cinematic storytelling, further emphasizing the project’s global caliber.

The series features a stellar ensemble cast, including internationally acclaimed actors Joel Kinnaman, Waleed Zuaiter, Dar Salim, Talia Balsam, Matt Barr, Christopher McDonald, and Emmy Award winner Tom Berenger. The series is directed, produced, and co-written by Leslie Greif, known for works such as The Offer and The Hatfields & The McCoys.

The creative team also includes Emmy Award–winning production designer Adrian Curelea and Oscar-winning makeup and hairstyling artist Giorgiana Gregorini. The script was written by award-winning writers Daniel Stiepleman, Graham Sack, and Jonathan Wakeham, and the executive producer lineup features major industry names, including Alexander Rodnyansky, an Oscar nominee and Golden Globe winner, as well as Leslie Greif, Tamer Mortada, and others.

In a significant move for regional and international distribution, WATCH IT has entered into an exclusive streaming collaboration with HBO. Under this agreement, HBO will stream the series internationally, while WATCH IT will hold exclusive streaming rights across Egypt and the MENA region. This partnership reinforces WATCH IT’s role in empowering regional talent while delivering content that meets global standards.
