Angelina Jolie Visits Rafah Crossing and El Arish Hospital on Humanitarian Mission

Angelina Jolie arrived at the Rafah Crossing in El Arish, North Sinai, on an inspection visit to aid warehouses located at the crossing, and to visit El Arish Hospital and its patients.

The American star and former UN Special Envoy for Refugees, inspected the Rafah land crossing today, Friday, accompanied by a delegation from the US State Department, in the presence of Major General Dr. Khaled Mogawer, Governor of North Sinai, and Ambassador Nabila Makram, former Minister of State for Immigration and Head of the Technical Secretariat of the National Alliance for Civil Development Work.

Jolie affirmed that her visit to the Rafah crossing comes as part of efforts to review the humanitarian situation and the mechanisms for delivering aid to the Gaza Strip.

She stressed the urgent need to deliver more aid as quickly as possible to Gaza, where residents are facing severe suffering and a profound humanitarian tragedy.

For his part, Major General Dr. Khaled Mogawer, Governor of North Sinai, stated that the Rafah land crossing is open on the Egyptian side and has not been closed since January 7, 2023, noting that Israel has shut the crossing on its side.

The governor also noted that all Egyptian authorities are on full alert to receive Palestinian wounded and patients for treatment in Egyptian hospitals.

This visit comes amid growing international concern over the humanitarian conditions in Gaza, and as a reaffirmation of support for Egypt’s efforts to receive the injured and provide necessary medical care.
