“La Cappella Sistina” book captures all of Sistine Chapel

CAIRO – 29 July 2017: For the first time ever the Sistine Chapel, home to some of the greatest works of art throughout all of human history, has been completely digitized. Every inch has been photographed and translated into a limited-edition book entitled “La Cappella Sistina.”

Art lovers will now be able to hold pristine reproductions of Michelangelo's artwork. The project was supported by the Vatican Museum, helping Italian art publisher “Scripta Maneant” take 270,000 high-resolution photos of the chapel. From its pristine ceilings down to the mosaic tile floors, it took five years to complete the project.

Costing €12,000 ($14,102) the book will be available to a limited number of 1,999 copies over a three-volume set. Those who buy the books will be personally granted a private tour of the chapel.
