The Cabinet approved during its meeting chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, a draft decree to issue new regulations governing foreign filming inside Egypt.

Under the new rules, the Egyptian Film Commission, operating under the Egyptian Media Production City (EMPC), will be responsible for securing all approvals required from relevant authorities for foreign productions filming in the country.

The regulations also establish a single digital window for all foreign filming requests. The commission will manage, supervise, and continually develop this platform, and no foreign production will be allowed to operate outside this one-stop digital portal.

According to the regulations, the Egyptian Film Commission will also promote Egypt as a prime destination for foreign production investment, coordinate with various authorities to obtain script approvals and filming permits, and facilitate the entry and exit of filming equipment in coordination with the Customs Authority.

The commission will monitor foreign productions on the ground and work to resolve any challenges they face.

The commission’s responsibilities also include providing the equipment, services, and personnel required for filming, showcasing all approved filming locations in Egypt through the digital portal, and clarifying the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing foreign shoots.

It will additionally recommend local production companies for collaboration and suggest Egyptian technical talent needed for international projects filmed in the country.
