The management of the Cairo International Film Festival organized, a memorial ceremony for the renowned director Samah Abdelaziz, who passed away on Thursday morning, July 10, after a sudden health crisis, at the age of 49.

The memorial ceremony included the screening of the short film Pain of Farewell, directed by his daughter, Jameela Samah Abdelaziz, and starring Khaled El Sawy and Mariam El Mahdy.

The ten-minute film featured a creative team including: cinematographer Omar Kamal, sound mixing by Tarek Alloush, editing by Logine Hazem, and music composed by Tamer Karawan.

This initiative came as a tribute to Samah Abdelaziz’s contributions to Egyptian cinema over two decades, and as part of the festival’s commitment to honoring the legacy of artistic icons who remain deeply rooted in the memory of cinema and its audiences.
