In honour of World Children’s Day, we shed light on a remarkable set of artefacts from Tutankhamun’s early years, items that capture the human side of the boy who would become king.
These pieces offer a glimpse into a childhood alive with colour, wonder, and creativity. Unearthed from his tomb and safeguarded through the ages, the collection features a tiny chair illustrated with desert creatures and plants, an elegantly crafted child’s sandal, a small box for his personal items, and miniature royal emblems believed to have been used during his coronation.
Research indicates that Tutankhamun took the throne at about nine years old, stepping into kingship while still a young boy carrying the dreams and hopes of childhood.
