Egypt’s Minister of Culture Ahmed Fouad Hanno.
At the opening ceremony of the 46th Cairo International Film Festival, Minister of Culture Ahmed Fouad Hanno delivered an inspiring speech celebrating the power of cinema.
“Today we are in the presence of cinema, a world that takes us through countless realms and captures unforgettable moments in history,” he said.
Reflecting on the connection between history and storytelling, Hanno highlighted, “In history, Tutankhamun was the hero, and young Hussein Abdel Basir helped discover his tomb. Cinema brings history to life in ways that last.”
He also praised Egypt’s cultural landmarks, noting, “The Grand Egyptian Museum stands as a testament to Egyptian genius, a landmark that redefines immortality and will inspire countless stories.”
Turning to Egypt’s role on the world stage, Hanno added, “World leaders gathered in Sharm El-Sheikh under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, with peace taking the spotlight as the true hero.”
The Minister’s speech underscored cinema's enduring impact as both a mirror of history and a beacon of Egypt’s cultural and artistic legacy.
