CAIRO – 1 November 2025: A breathtaking series of performances illuminated the inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), blending music, light, and heritage in a celebration that mirrored Egypt’s timeless message of peace and unity.

In a landmark ceremony attended by leaders from around the world, GEM, the world's largest museum dedicated for a single civilization, officially opened its doors, uniting thousands of years of ancient Egyptian heritage under one roof.

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi led the inauguration of the grand museum before the eyes of nearly 80 official delegations, including 39 led by kings, princes, and heads of state and government, opening a new chapter in the nation's history.

El-Sisi welcomed the distinguished heads of delegations, including kings, presidents, princes, and other dignitaries, attending the grand ceremony.

The celebration began with an artistic performance titled “The World Plays One Melody,” symbolizing global harmony through music.

The performances brought together orchestras from Japan, France, Brazil, the United States, and Egypt, all harmonizing under pharaonic atmospheres and accompanied by an ethereal vocalist.

It was followed by a mesmerizing laser and drone show that illustrated the Orion correlation theory explaining a link between the arrangement of the Giza Pyramids and the stars of the Orion Belt.

The shows also told the story about the architectural alignment linking the Grand Egyptian Museum to the Pyramids of Giza.

The audience was then captivated by a performance titled “Journey of Peace in the Land of Peace,” portraying the creative spirit of Egyptians from the construction of the Pyramid of Djoser to the achievements of modern architecture.

The evening also featured a unique blend of Coptic hymns and Sufi chants, embodying Egypt’s spiritual diversity and cultural depth.

The ceremony culminated with another stunning drone display lighting up the Cairo sky with the message: “Civilizations Flourish in Times of Peace.”

Following the inauguration, President El-Sisi and First Lady Entissar El-Sisi accompanied guests on a journey through history inside the museum, beginning with the colossal statue of Ramses II.

The tour took the visitors to GEM's Grand Staircase, rising the equivalent of six floors and adorned with dozens of statues that showcase the splendor of ancient Egyptian civilization.

El-Sisi underlined that GEM stands as the largest museum in the world dedicated to a single civilization: the everlasting civilization of Egypt.

“Today, as we celebrate together the inauguration of the Grand Egyptian Museum, we write a new chapter in the history of the present and the future of this great nation,” El-Sisi said in a speech during the inauguration.

He invited attendees from all corners of the world “to make this museum a platform for dialogue, a destination for knowledge, a meeting place for humanity, and a beacon for all who cherish life and believe in the value of humankind.”

The president affirmed that GEM is “not merely a place to preserve precious antiquities, but a living testament to the genius of the Egyptian people, the builders of the pyramids, who carved the story of eternity upon stone.”

“The Grand Egyptian Museum stands as a living embodiment of the journey of a people who have inhabited the land of the Nile since the dawn of history,” El-Sisi stated.

The Grand Egyptian Museum, just outside of Cairo on the Giza Plateau and next door to the Great Giza Pyramids, opens its doors today in a historic, world-class event that will witness unprecedented international attendance.

GEM showcases the history of ancient Egypt from 700,000 BC to 394 AD, uniting thousands of years of heritage under one roof.

The museum houses over 57,000 artifacts, including the complete treasures of King Tutankhamun, displayed together for the first time since the discovery of his tomb in 1922.
