President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has issued a decree appointing 100 new members to Egypt’s Senate, among them several distinguished names from the worlds of art, media, and literature — most notably actor Yasser Galal, director Khaled Galal, and novelist Ahmed Mourad.
Expressing his deep gratitude, Yasser Galal celebrated his appointment with a heartfelt message on Facebook, writing: "It's an honor to join the Egyptian Senate. With all love and respect, I thank President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for his constant support of art, culture, and creative talents in our country. I pray to be worthy of this trust and represent my fellow artists in the best way possible.”
Galal emphasized that the presence of artists in the Senate is both an honor and a real opportunity to ensure that the artistic community has an active and influential voice in national dialogue. He affirmed that “art is an integral part of Egypt’s identity, and its voice must be present wherever the country’s future is being shaped.”
