Robert Redford _ the legendary actor, Oscar-winning filmmaker, and lifelong advocate for the arts — has passed away at the age of 89. His publicist, Cindi Berger, confirmed that Redford died peacefully on September 16, 2025, at his beloved Sundance home in the Utah mountains, surrounded by family.
“He will be profoundly missed,” Berger said in a statement, adding that the family is asking for privacy during this time. A true Hollywood icon, Redford captivated audiences with unforgettable performances in classics like Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and All the President’s Men.
Behind the camera, he left an equally powerful mark as the director of acclaimed films including Ordinary People and A River Runs Through It.
