For the first time, Egypt’s Ministry of Culture will celebrate “National Music Day” on September 15, marking the anniversary of the legendary Sayed Darwish, whose art continues to echo in the nation’s soul.
The National Music Day will feature 100 events across 80+ cultural venues nationwide, all happening simultaneously in every governorate. From concerts, art and book exhibitions, panel discussions, and theater performances, to free entry at iconic museums like the Umm Kulthum and Mohamed Abdel Wahab Museums, the celebrations promise a cultural feast for all.
As the Minister of Culture stated, music is more than an art form; it’s a cornerstone of Egyptian identity since the days when instruments were carved on temple walls. Dedicating a national day to music highlights its role as a soft power shaping the people’s spirit while reaffirming Egypt’s cultural leadership in the Arab world and beyond.
