At the 2025 Emmy Awards, Javier Bardem made a striking political statement, stepping onto the red carpet draped in the Palestinian keffiyeh.

The actor aligned himself with Film Workers for Palestine, clarifying that his principles outweigh industry ties.

“I cannot work with someone who justifies or supports the genocide.” He went on to condemn the atrocities in Gaza, stressing: “Here I am today, denouncing the genocide in Gaza. I am talking about the IAGS, the International Association of Genocide Scholars, who study genocide thoroughly and has declared it to be a genocide. That’s why we ask for a commercial and diplomatic blockade and also sanctions on Israel to stop the genocide. Free Palestine.”

His words and symbolic gesture turned the red carpet into a platform for solidarity, demanding accountability and justice for the Palestinian people.
