Singer-songwriter Hamza Namira is hitting a new career high as he steps onto the global Grammy stage in 2026 with his latest album “Karar Shakhsy” (Personal Decision).
The record is in the running for both Best Album and Best Global Music Album, putting Arabic music in the spotlight like never before.
Namira stressed how tough it is to even qualify, since competing at the Grammys requires official membership with the Recording Academy—a hurdle few Arab artists have crossed.
He also voiced his dream of seeing a dedicated Arab Pop category, to give regional music fair recognition rather than grouping it under the wide “Global Music” umbrella alongside Indian and other genres.
Arabic artists have rarely made Grammy history: Ibrahim Maalouf, the Lebanese-French trumpeter, scored nominations in 2023 and 2024, while Egyptian composer Fathy Salama was part of Egypt, the 2005 Grammy-winning album.
The 2026 Grammy nominations drop on November 7, 2025, with the glittering awards night set for February 1, 2026, at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena.
