In a past interview with TV host Mona El Shazly, late veteran actor Lotfy Labib opened up about the challenges he faced before accepting his role as the Israeli ambassador in El Sefara Fe El Omara.
He admitted to fearing public backlash after portraying this role and that he had rejected an official honor from the Israeli Embassy in Egypt following the film.
Beloved actor Lotfy Labib has passed away after a severe health crisis, confirmed by Monir Makram of the Actors’ Syndicate.
Labib spent his final days in intensive care as his condition deteriorated. A pillar of Egyptian cinema and TV, Labib appeared in over 100 films and more than 30 television series.
He was known for his iconic roles alongside stars like Adel Imam, notably portraying the Israeli ambassador in El Sefara Fe El Omara and Fakhry in Gana El Bayan El Taly with Mohamed Henedy.
Beyond acting, Labib served in the Egyptian army during the October War and authored several works, including Katibat 26, where he documented his six-year military experience.
He once said in an interview: “With time away from acting, I turned to writing my reflections and stories.” His last appearance was in the film Ana W Ibn Khalti, starring Sayed Ragab, Bayoumi Fouad, Hanady Mehanna, and others.
Lotfy Labib left behind a legacy of versatility, patriotism, and generosity to Egypt’s entertainment industry.
