Unprecedented Cinematic Event in Moscow: The World Premiere of Moscow Cairo Unites Filmmakers from Egypt and Russia

 

 

In a dazzling night of celebration, the Russian capital hosted the global premiere of Moscow Cairo, a groundbreaking Egyptian-Russian co-production, directed by Egyptian filmmaker Khaled Mahran and produced by Dubai-based Cre Eco Film Production. The premiere occurred at the prestigious venue in Moscow’s Smolenskaya Square.

 

 

 

The event was attended by an array of prominent figures from the film and cultural scene, including director Khaled Mahran, producer Enam El-Tounsy, and the Russian stars of the film, who praised the movie for its beauty and considered it their gateway to Egyptian cinema. Also present was Russian author Elena Serebryakova, the film was based on her bestselling novel “Smile… You’re in Egypt”, alongside a host of artists, producers, and leading distribution companies from Russia, all describing the premiere as “a historic cinematic moment that bridges East and West on one screen.”

 

 

 

🎬 Based on the hit Russian novel by Elena Serebryakova, Moscow Cairo follows the story of five young Russian women who, in the wake of the Soviet Union’s collapse in the early ’90s, escape the chaos in search of safety, freedom, and a fresh start in Egypt.

 

 

 

Blending raw human drama with visual nostalgia, the film beautifully captures the spirit of the ’90s while offering a refined artistic portrayal of the cultural bond between Russia and Egypt.
