The Egyptian-Lebanese film Arza is participating in the official competition of the Malmö Arab Film Festival in Sweden, which will take place from April 30 to May 3.

At the same time, the film continues its successful screenings on five major global platforms in North America: iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, Xbox, and Vudu. It becomes the first Egyptian film to be released across all these platforms. Since the beginning of its festival journey, Arza has won five awards at various international festivals, including two at the "Arab Cinema Horizons" competition, one of which was the Best Actress award for its lead, Diamond Bou Abboud. The film also received the Best Screenplay Award — the Youssef Chahine Award.

The film was selected by the Lebanese nomination committee to represent Lebanon in the Oscar race for Best International Feature Film. The committee described the nomination as a tribute to the spirit and resilience of the Lebanese people.

Arza is directed by Mira Shaer, and written by Faisal Shaer and Louay Khreish. It is produced by the Egyptian-American company Ambient Light, led by producer Ali El Arabi, alongside Faisal Shaer, Louay Khreish, and Zeina Badran. Executive producer: Tarek Al Naameh. The original score was composed by renowned musician Hany Adel.

The film stars Diamond Bou Abboud, Betty Taoutel, and Bilal Al Hamwi, and features guest appearances by Fadi Abi Samra, Junaid Zein Al-Din, Fouad Yammine, Elie Mitri, Tarek Tamim, Hagop Derghougassian, Joyce Nasrallah, Shaden Faqih, and Mohamed Khansa.

The story revolves around “Arza,” a single mother living in Beirut, who is burdened by life’s challenges and struggles to provide for her son Kenan and her sister Laila.
