CAIRO – 24 July 2017: Residents of Damanhour governorate inaugurated the Summer Music Festival held in Damanhour Opera House with a painting depicting the art and culture awareness of governorates on Sunday.

The opening ceremony, attended by President of the Cairo Opera House Enas Abdel Dayem, also featured a performance by a choir of children and youth who sang old Arabic songs, including ‘Ya Mesahrny’ and ’Ana Qalby Elek Mayel,’ among others.

Culture Minister Helmy el-Namnam gave a speech at the opening ceremony in celebration of the national holiday of July 23, according to a released statement. Young singer Carmen Soliman took the stage following the minister’s speech with a collection of Arabic music covers, such as ‘Ya Sahar El Layali’ by Lebanese singer Fayrouz and ‘Enta Omry’ by late Egyptian singer Om Kalthoum, among others.
