Opera Summer Festival to be inaugurated in Alexandria

CAIRO – 23 July 2017: Culture Minister Helmy el-Namnam will inaugurate the Opera Summer Festival in Sayed Darwish Hall in Alexandria Opera House on July 23.

The inauguration comes in parallel to celebrating the anniversary of the 1952 revolution. The opening celebrations will display two concerts, one in the morning and the other at night. The morning segment will feature performances by children choirs of Opera Alexandria conducted by Maestro Abdel Hamid Abdel Ghafar. The performances will feature patriotic songs about the country.

The night performance will be featuring ballet segments conducted by Cairo Ballet Opera Company accompanied with English pianist David Hills, according to a released statement by the Culture Ministry.

The celebrations are also expected to be featured in Damanhour City, Beheira governorate, where singer/musician Ahmed Gamal is to perform in Damanhour Opera a collection of modern and classic Arabic music alongside some of his personal works.
