Egypt participates in Metropolitan Museum in New York’s archaeological exhibition titled ‘Africa and Byzantium’

The Metropolitan Museum in New York announced the opening of an archaeological exhibition titled “Africa and Byzantium,” in the presence of an official delegation from the Egyptian Supreme Council of Antiquities.

 

Egypt is participating in this exhibition with 11 artifacts from the Egyptian Museum’s collections.

 

 

The Egyptian museum is the oldest archaeological museum in the Middle East. 

 
The Egyptian Museum in Tahrir was inaugurated in 1902.
 
The museum houses thousands of priceless Egyptian artefacts.
 
It contains the largest collection of ancient Egyptian antiquities in the world, including the famous Narmer Palette, royal statuary and artefacts from the age of the pyramid builders, the funerary collection of Yuya and Thuya, the grandparents of King Akhenaten, the treasures of Tanis, an extensive range of animal mummies, papyri, coffins and jewellery from different periods.
