The management board of Sharm El-Sheikh International Theater Festival for Youth (SITFY), chaired by director Mazen El-Gharabawy announced that the eighth edition will bear the name of veteran Egyptian actress Samira Mohsen.
 
 
The eighth edition is scheduled to take place between (25-30) November, 2023, in Sharm El-Sheikh, South Sinai Governorate. The slogan of the upcoming edition is: “Nothing Is Impossible for Believers”.
 
Dr. Samira Mohsen stated that she is glad because the eighth edition bears her name. She didn’t expect that celebration from SITFY or other festivals. She pointed out that dedication and sincerity lead to success and excellence. These qualities introduce artists in a perfect way to the audience.
 
In her statement, Mohsen stated that she witnessed the establishment of SITFY and followed all its edition, except the seventh edition, for she is so busy. She declared that the festival is developing in a remarkable way year over year. It will keep developing, for it depends on young people who have hope and persistence. They are determined to succeed. As for Samira Mohsen, she loves these successful figures. 
 
SITFY’s honorary president, the Lady of Arab Theater Samiha Ayoub stated that actress Samira Mohsen deserves to be honored. SITFY’s higher committee unanimously chose her name, for she deserves that. She is an iconic artist and professor who taught multiple generations over several years. 
 
SITFY’s managing director Dr. Engy El-Bestawy pointed out that it is a well-deserved honor for Dr. Samira Mohsen, for she is an iconic figure in the world of theater. She is an actress who presented fabulous theatrical works. Moreover, she is a leading teacher and professor from whom we learned a lot.
 
Dr. Samira Mohsen is an actress, writer, and producer. She was born on July 14 in Cairo. She graduated from the Department of Psychology and Sociology from Ain Shams University, as well as the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts. She obtained a Master’s Degree and a PhD from the Soviet Union. She worked as the head of the Department of Acting and Directing from the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts. She presented multiple theatrical works with directors like Mr. Kamal Yassin, with whom she presented her very first show while she was a second-year student at the Higher Institute of Theatrical Arts. Furthermore, she presented “Khayal Al-Zil” which is written by Dr. Rashad Roushdy, starring veteran actress Samiha Ayoub. Later on, she presented “Re7lat Qetar” and “Chahine Ma Mat” with veteran actor Emad Hamdy. She presented “Samson and Delilah” with Dr. Nabil Al-Alfi, starring actress Sohair Al-Bably, actor Nour Al-Sherif and actor Hamdy Gaith. Additionally, she presented “the Man and the Shadow” with the iconic director Hassan Abd El-Salam, which is writer by Dr. Mustafa Mahmoud, starring actor Salah Mansour and actor Mohamed Wafiq. She also presented some theatrical works with artist and director Karam Motawie, director Galal Al-Sharqawy and other iconic directors.
 
Regarding cinema, she presented multiple unique works, including: “a Taste of Fear”, “the Rebels”, “Girls Complain”, “the Beauty and the Students”, “Fatat Al-Mina”, “for Lack of Evidence”, “Backstreets”, “a Cry of Regret” and others. Moreover, she wrote several scripts, including: “Women’s Police”, “Women and the Law”, and “Ela Ommy”. She also produced multiple films, such as: “First Year of Deception”, “Private Alexandria”, and “Room 707”. She presented series, like “Al-Halawany Gate”, “Harat Al-Tablawy”, “Hawari Wa Qosour”, “Hekayet Hayah” and other television dramas.
 
It is noteworthy that SITFY is held under the auspices of the Minister of Culture, Dr. Nevine Al-Kilani and South Sinai Governor, Major-General Khaled Fouda.
