ACC witnesses a busy year full of activities & achievements

The Arab Cinema Center (ACC) saw a lot of activity in 2022, continuing its efforts to support and promote Arab cinema by offering a professional window for connection with the global film industry.

Also, in collaboration with European Film Promotion, the ACC engaged in acquaintance and communication sessions between Arab and European producers during the Cannes Film Festival, where the ACC published the 16th issue of the Arab Cinema Magazine.
 
 
 
 
The magazine was revealed during the launch of the 75 Years of Palestinian Cinema campaign, which sheds light on the most important Palestinian films and their makers, as well as the list of the 101 most influential Arabs.
 
 
Additionally, the ACC co-sponsored the Venice Production Bridge event at the Venice International Film Festival.
 
The event served as a platform that brings together film industry experts and professionals from across the world for screenings, talks, and workshops.
 
 
 
Furthermore, the ACC granted a number of awards to Arab filmmakers at various film festivals and events, choosing three Arab producers to take part in the 2023 Rotterdam Lab:
 
 
- Yemeni producer Mohammed Al-Jaberi during the CIFF’s Cairo Film Connection.
- Saudi producer Lujain Bakshwain during the RSIFF’s Red Sea Souk
- Lebanese producer Michel Zarazir during the RSIFF’s Red Sea Souk
 
The ACC also revealed the critics' awards for Arab films during its participation in the Cannes Film Festival, which were as follows:
 
 
● Best Picture: Feathers | Director: Omar El-Zohairy | Egypt
● Best Actor: Ali Suliman | Amira | Palestine
● Best Actress: Maisa Abd Elhadi | Huda’s Salon | Palestine
● Best Director: Omar El-Zohairy | Feathers | Egypt
● Best Script: Ahmed Amer and Omar El-Zohairy | Feathers | Egypt
● Best Documentary: Little Palestine (Diary of a Siege) | Director: Abdallah Al-Khatib | Palestine, Lebanon
Moreover, it revealed the winners of the Achievement Award in Film Criticism during the Cannes Film Festival:
● Film critic Ziad Khuzai
● American Film Critic Jay Weissberg
Additionally, the Arab Critics Award for European Film was given to the Polish film EO by Jerzy Skolimowski during the CIFF.
 
 
The ACC will resume its activities in early 2023 by participating in the 36th IFFR and the 73rd Berlinale.
