Egypt's Public Prosecution ordered the referral of Menna Shalaby to criminal court over charges of drug possession

Egyptian Public Prosecution ordered the referral of famed Egyptian actress Menna Shalaby to criminal court over charges of drug possession.
 
 
This came after Shalaby was arrested in Cairo International Airport for alleged possession of cannabis which is illegal and punishable by the law in Egypt.
 
 
 
The Public Prosecution referred Shalaby to the criminal court after listening to the testimony of five witnesses in addition to the results of the police investigations, and also the results of the chemical laboratory which examined the seizures found in her possession.
 
 
On November 25, the Public Prosecution ordered, the release of Shalaby after interrogating her in the case of possessing narcotics at Cairo International Airport.

Shalaby was arrested at Cairo International Airport after returning from abroad with materials suspected of being narcotics.

Menna was released later after being fined with LE50,000.

The Public Prosecution had received a notification to arrest actress Menna Shalaby at Cairo International Airport upon her return from abroad, as during the completion of customs procedures, the X-rays showed the presence of organic densities inside her luggage.

After being thoroughly searched, the forces discovered materials suspected of being drugs inside the actress bags, so she arrested, and the suspected materials were sized.

During the investigation, Menna Shalaby denied the accusation of having narcotic substances with the intent to use.

Accordingly, the Public Prosecution ordered the actress release after paying the fine.
