CAIRO – 18 December 2022: The 18th Dynasty emerged in the ancient Egyptian state in the wake of an episode of chaos known today as the Second Intermediate Period, around 1550 B.C.

A warrior king named Ahmose I emerged from obscurity to expel the Asian Hyksos from the Nile Delta region by adapting a horse-drawn chariot. Ahmose I transformed the Egyptian army into a dynamic force that dominated the Near East and Nubia (northeast Africa).

He also enshrined the Egyptian royal liberation myth that legitimized the family's control of power, stressing that he is the protector of the god Maat (the god of truth and harmony) from the forces of chaos.

According to the History Extra website, Ahmose I and his successors turned the resources of Egypt into glory and established temples for the gods that supported their power. The Temple of Amun in Karnak became a state within a state.

The kings were supported by the elites who were in a state of action like their rulers. The first three kings of the 18th Dynasty were Ahmose I, Amenhotep I and Thutmose I.
