Meir was a rock tomb cemetery for administration officials during the Old and Middle Kingdoms.

 

 

Amongst the most important are the tombs belonging to Ni-Ankh-Pepy and Pepi-Ankh.

 

These vividly painted tombs contain various daily life scenes such as fishing in the marshes, agriculture, and different types of games and sports, as well as wine and bread production.
