CAIRO – 8 August 2022: Under the title "Discover the Art of Wood Carving", the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat organized a heritage workshop in cooperation with the Al- Qalam Foundation for the Art of Arabic Calligraphy.

 

 

 

 

Vice-Chairman of the Museum Authority for Administration and Operation Fayrouz Fekry pointed out that the wood carving craft is one of the most famous and most important traditional crafts in Egypt, which includes sculpting, engineering and decorative engravings, in addition to writing on wood.

 

 

 

 

She added that during the workshop, a live presentation of some of the wood carving models was held, in addition to an explanation of how the decorations, writings and tools were implemented by ancient Egyptian artists.

 

 

 

 

Moreover, Nancy Ammar, a senior heritage and cultural communication specialist at the museum, said that a number of museum visitors participated in the workshop, and learned about the techniques and tools used in the art of wood carving.
