CAIRO – 26 July 2022: The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat is the first local museum to calculate the carbon footprint.

Head of the Museum’s Authority Ahmed Farouk Ghoneim took a rapid action that comes in line with the state's strategy for sustainable development, in cooperation with De Carbon, the leading company in the field of green economy and sustainability services.

De Carbon formed a technical committee of experts and academics, who calculated the museum's carbon footprint since its opening and for a whole year.

With the issuance of this report, the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization becomes the first local museum in Egypt to reveal this report, which would put the museum on a fast track and a targeted strategy towards sustainable development.

The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization has become an edifice that preserves the environment, antiquities and heritage for future generations, which coincides with and emphasizes the role of the museum as an illuminating beacon in all fields.
