CAIRO – 5 June 2022: The American Metropolitan Opera honored veteran Egyptian actor Mohammed Sobhi in the presence of Egypt’s Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem, in appreciation of his continuous efforts to enrich the art scene in Egypt. This comes in addition to being the best actor to play the character of Hamlet on stage, according to Encyclopedia Britannica.

The American Metropolitan Opera dedicated a live broadcast of Hamlet opera by world musician Pratt Dean to Sobhi, which was broadcast in the Egyptian Opera House.

 

 

 

 

Abdel Dayem expressed her pride in such honoring, which is an affirmation of the status of Egypt’s soft power worldwide. She added that Sobhi is one of the symbols of creativity in Egypt and the Arab world, noting that he succeeded throughout his career to establish himself as an artist and a part of the conscience of multiple generations.

 

 

 

 

The broadcast was preceded by a part of the play Hamlet by the famous William Shakespeare, starring and directed by Mohammed Sobhi.
