CAIRO – 31 May 2022: The World Health Organization and its partners everywhere celebrate World No Tobacco Day on May 31 of each year, highlighting the health risks associated with tobacco use and calling for the development of effective policies to reduce its consumption.

Tobacco use is the single most important cause of preventable death globally, and it currently kills one in ten adults worldwide.

The ultimate goal of World No Tobacco Day is to contribute to protecting present and future generations from these devastating health consequences, and also from the social, environmental and economic calamities of tobacco use and exposure to tobacco smoke.
