New branch of Gallery Dai to open with retrospect exhibition for renowned artist Mohammed Abla on May 29

CAIRO – 23 May 2022: Cairo is witnessing a new cultural and artistic event, as a new branch of the Arab Atelier for Culture and Arts will be inaugurated under the name Gallery Dai Zamalek.

 

 

 

 

The new branch will be opened with a retrospective exhibition of the renowned Egyptian artist Mohammed Abla, one of the great symbols of the Egyptian plastic art movement and winner of the Goethe Medal from Germany.

 

 

 

 

The exhibition will launch on May 29 at 7 p.m.

 

 

 

 

Abla is a plastic artist who got a BA from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Photography, Alexandria University in 1977, and a diploma from the Faculty of Fine Arts in 1978. He also studied at the Faculty of Arts and Industries (Sculpture) in Zurich - Switzerland in 1981.

 

 

 

 

He worked as director of the Fine Arts Hall at the Opera for six months in 1990, a visiting professor of art at the Orebro School of Sweden, and he was the Chairman of the Cairo Atelier Board of Directors in 2010.

  

 

 

 

He also participated in many international exhibitions, including the Sharjah Biennial in 1993, the Graphic Biennale in Finland in 1993, the German Triennale in Switzerland in 1993, and the exhibition of the International Graphic Association EXILON in 1993, among many others.
