CAIRO – 26 April 2022: April 25, 2022 marks the 66th anniversary of establishing the Egyptian Antiquities Registration Center, which is one of the most important archaeological scientific centers in Egypt and a keeper of documents and information that record the most important eras of archaeological work.

Head of the Central Administration for the Registration of Egyptian Antiquities Hisham el-Leithi stressed the important role that the center plays in the registration and scientific publication of Egyptian antiquities nationwide, in addition to providing scientists and researchers with the necessary scientific material for their studies, enabling them to benefit from the scientific registration work of the restoration projects and periodic inspections carried out by the Supreme Council of Antiquities, as well as maintaining the documents collected and registered and exchanging them with various scientific entities and universities.

It should be noted that the center was established in 1956 prior to launching the  international campaign to save the monuments of Nubia, primarily to register these temples in a specialized scientific record before moving them from their original location. Later on, the center continued to record and document Egyptian antiquities nationwide.
