625 - The Battle of Uhud takes place at Mount Uhud near Yathrib between the Muslims and the people of Mecca. Hamza bin Abdul Muttalib is killed in the battle at the hands of Wahshi bin Harb by order of Hind bint Utbah.

 

 

 

1870 – Dar al-Kutub is established in Cairo.

 

 

 

1919 - British planes bomb the cities of Assiut and Dayrut for two days, as part of the events of the 1919 Revolution.

 

 

 

1925 - King Fouad dissolves the House of Representatives, 9 hours after the election of Saad Zagloul as president.

 

 

 

2021 - The container ship Ever Given ran aground in the Suez Canal and the Egyptian leadership succeeded in bringing it back to normal in a record time.
