CAIRO – 10 March 2022: On March 10, the 2022 International Booker Prize announced the longlist of competing novels.

The Longlist includes 13 novels translated into English.

In its official statement, the award revealed that the novels that reached this stage have been translated into English from 11 languages and come from 12 countries across four continents.

For the first time, novels in Indian languages compete for the award.

This year's longlist includes past winners Olga Tokarczuk, Jennifer Croft, David Grossman and Jessica Cohen, along with first-time English-translated authors.

In addition, the longlist was dominated by independent publishing houses, which pursue global fiction in order to introduce it to English-speaking readers, including the British publishing house Tilted Axis founded by Deborah Smith, former winner of the International Man Booker Prize.
