CAIRO – 24 February 2022: Mark your calendars for Egypt’s first podcasting conference, PodFest Cairo, in its third edition, on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at The American University in Cairo’s (AUC) Tahrir Cultural Campus (TCC) in the historic Ewart Hall.

AUC’s Department of Journalism and Mass Communication (JRMC) is hosting the event.

Attendees will need to show proof that they are fully vaccinated to enter campus.

The half day conference, from 2 p.m. - 6 p.m., aims to bring together podcast creators, listeners as well as anyone interested in creating audio content. Kim Fox, PodFest Cairo’s founder and organizer, says “the podcasting community in Cairo is growing and we want to encourage podcasters to continue to create compelling audio content.”

Sessions will be held in English (with the possibility of simultaneous translation) and will address topics about podcasting that are of interest to a wide audience such as how to start a podcast, obtaining good quality audio for your podcast and the future of podcasting in Egypt. Panelists include Ahmed Naguib, the host of the Ma3 Naguib Podcast, Basant Samhout from Sowt Podcasting, music and podcast expert Rami Mohsen and more.

PodFest Cairo will also share preliminary data on podcast listenership in the greater Cairo region. Listeners in the greater Cairo region can fill out the survey online: https://bit.ly/2022PFCListenerSurvey
