Egypt’s tourism & antiquities minister convenes with Swiss ambassador to Cairo to discuss enhancing joint cooperation

CAIRO – 2 February 2022: Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled el-Enani received in his office Ambassador of Switzerland to Cairo Yvonne Baumann, who recently assumed the duties of her position succeeding Ambassador Paul Garnier.

 

 

 

 

The convention was held to discuss ways to enhance joint cooperation between the two countries in the field of tourism and antiquities.

 

 

 

 

The meeting was attended by Minister Plenipotentiary Dalia Abdel Fattah, the general supervisor of the General Department of International Relations and Agreements at the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.

 

 

 

 

Enani began the meeting by welcoming the Swiss Ambassador, and stressing the close relations between Egypt and Switzerland in various fields, especially the field of tourism and antiquities. He pointed out that the Swiss tourists came among the first visitors to Egypt upon the resumption of the inbound tourist movement in July 2020.This indicates the swiss people and government's confidence in the safety of the Egyptian tourist destination.

 

 

 

 

For her part, Swiss Ambassador Yvonne Baumann congratulated Enani on the celebrations of Luxor and the Pharaohs’ Golden Parade. She also praised the efforts made during the last period to promote Egyptian tourism.

 

 

 

 

The meeting also touched on supporting cooperation between the two countries in the fields of training workers in the field of tourism, managing hotels, restoration, raising tourism and archaeological awareness, and developing visitor services at museums and archaeological sites.

 

 

 

 

During the meeting, the Swiss Ambassador Yvonne Baumann expressed her desire for one of the most famous Swiss painters to display his artworks in one of the exposed Egyptian archaeological sites.
