CAIRO – 2 February 2022 In the pavilion of the Administrative Control Authority at the 53rd Cairo International Book Fair, “Maat”, the goddess of justice and truth during ancient Egypt, appears through a screen using the hologram technology, to introduce herself to the public in both Arabic and English.

 

 

 

 

“I established values and principles by which life is straightened. I did not forge, I did not steal, I did not break the law, I did not seek corruption, I did not show my interest over the public interest, so good and peace would prevail,” says Maat through the hologram technology.

 

 

 

 

The 53rd Cairo International Book Fair kicked off on January 26 and runs until February 7. Some 1067 Egyptian, Arab and foreign publishers and agencies from 51 countries will participate in the book fair.

 

 

 

 

Moreover, the 53rd Cairo International Book Fair is held at the Egypt Center for International Conventions and Exhibitions and Greece will be the guest of honor.

 

 

 

 

Writer Yehia Haqi will is the main personality of the book fair. The writer Abdel Tawab Youssef will be the main character of the Children’s Book Fair.

 

 

 

 

In this edition, the latest methods of technology and artificial intelligence will be used. During the activities, the writer Yehia Haqi will appear with the hologram in an interactive presentation with the audience.

 

 

 

 

Also, children and children's hall-goers will watch one of the stories of the late writer Abdel Tawab Youssef through using VR glasses.

 

 

 

 

An award for the Best Arab Publisher will be granted for the first time during the 53rd Cairo International Book Fair  and the value of the fair’s prizes increased to L.E. 40,000 instead of L.E. 10,000 in each cultural field.

 

 

 

 

Furthermore, online sale of books is made available on the exhibition’s digital platform and delivery services are provided in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications represented by the Egyptian Post to any place inside Egypt.

 

 

 

 

The Ministry of Culture will present a large number of its publications within the "Your Culture is Your Book" initiative to provide books at affordable prices.
