CAIRO – 1 February 2022: Egypt’s Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem confirmed that choosing identity as a slogan for the 53rd Cairo International Book Fair comes within the framework of the Egyptian state's plan, "Egypt Vision 2030", to achieve sustainable development.

The logo was inspired by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's announcement that Pharaonic, Coptic, Arab, and Islamic Egypt is linked to Asian, African and European borders.

Abdel Dayem said that the identity slogan confirms that the people who know their identity are able to build their present and future, and that the Ministry of Culture implements many projects and initiatives that will preserve the Egyptian identity, including the "Lived Here" initiative, "The Tale Of A Street" initiative, "The Tale Of A City" initiative, and "Ahl Masr" project to integrate the people of the border areas with the people of Cairo.

Abdel Dayem confirmed that holding the 53rd Cairo International Book Fair just six months after the 52nd edition reflects the state's persistence on reviving the cultural life despite the pandemic, pointing out that the exhibition's audience has always been the source of encouragement and motivation in every step of renewal and development of the exhibition.

Furthermore, Abdel Dayem stated that culture is one of the arms of Egyptian diplomacy and its soft power that works to build cooperation bridges with the peoples of the world.

On choosing Greece as the guest of honor for the 53rd Cairo International Book Fair, the minister underlined the cultural and historical ties between Egypt and Greece, especially that the Greek community is one of the largest in Egypt.

She added that Greece was scheduled to be the guest of honor of the 52nd edition of the book fair, but the closure of airports and lack of transportation means due to the global pandemic prevented that.
